Saloniciotikos Dance for string quartet (2026), ca. 8'

The quartet is based on thematic material from a traditional song from the Larissa region, specifically the ‘Salonikiotiko dance’. According to ethnomusicologist Haris Sarris, this is one of the best-known and most beloved instrumental pieces from the wider Larissa region and the Thessalian plain.

It is a work that approaches tradition through new avenues, based on the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic treatment of the material.
