Mother, I Told You (2022), ca. 1

The piano miniature Mother, I Told You (Sou eipa mana m' )is based on the well-known traditional Tsakonian song of the same name. The central concept of the piece is the delayed revelation of the song’s main melody, which emerges briefly towards the end before gradually fading away once again. The continuous variation of texture, which aesthetically challenges the notion of tradition, serves as the vehicle for this gradual disclosure.The miniature was selected by the Friends of Music Society to commemorate its 70th anniversary.

The concert took place on Thursday, 23 November 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Athens Concert Hall, in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall.

It was also performed at the Concert of Canadian and Greek Composers organized by Corren Morsink.
